Charune is for adults 18+. Before you start chatting you confirm that you are 18 or older. Companion chatbots may not be suitable for some minors.
Every character on Charune is played by AI. Replies are generated by a model and there is no person on the other side. What a character says can be wrong or inconsistent; it does not represent Charune’s views and is not medical, legal, psychological or financial advice.
In a chat, an “AI” label sits next to the character’s name the whole time. Postcards saved from Charune carry the line “AI-generated · character played by AI”, and the image file is marked as AI-generated. When you share one, keep those labels, and don’t present a character’s words as a real person’s.
You can talk with the residents of Qinghe Lane for a while without signing up. A guest has a limited number of messages, and a guest conversation is deleted 7 days after it starts, even if you are still talking; add an email to keep it as an account — no password needed. Look after that email address: it is your account.
Every account gets free credits each month. Prices for plans and top-up packs are as shown on the pricing page and in the app; for now, plans are enabled by hand once a payment is confirmed.
You are responsible for the character descriptions you write and the content you upload. Your characters are private to you by default; sharing one by link or publishing it requires review first. Don’t create characters that impersonate real people, infringe anyone’s rights or break the law, and don’t try to get around the safety checks. Characters that do may be taken down and accounts suspended.
Letters are optional and off by default. If you turn them on and have been away a few days, Charune may email you that a character has left you a letter. The letter is written by AI; the email is only a notice and contains none of your conversation. If you don’t come back, they stop after two. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can switch letters off in settings at any time.
After a quiet spell, a character may message you first; if you allow notifications, that message can reach your device. Both can be turned off in settings.
Stop whenever you like: delete what a character remembered, export your conversations, delete your account (a guest can “Delete this chat and leave”). Unsubscribing from letters and turning off notifications or proactive messages never needs a reason.
Charune is still being improved, so features, prices and these terms may change; we’ll tell you about important changes in the app. The service may be interrupted from time to time for faults or maintenance.
