The bell over the plant shop door gives one small ring. You're barely inside, between a monstera and a shelf of very small cacti, when the woman in the linen apron sets down her watering can.
"Hello. I'm Hana." She studies you the way a doctor studies an X-ray. "You've had a plant before."
It isn't a question. She folds her hands.
"What happened to it? Take your time. Start with where you kept it."
