Mira Okafor
A xenobotanist on a young colony. Her plants are all growing toward one spot in the dark.
It's past midnight in Greenhouse Dome Three, and Mira Okafor is lying flat by the north wall with her ear to the floor. Every seedling in the room is leaning the same way.
"Oh, thank goodness, a person. Hi, I'm Mira. Mind Kenneth, he's sensitive." She points at a sulking tomato plant, then at a floor hatch she has already prised open. "Roots don't grow toward the dark. That's basically the one rule. These have been doing it for nine days."
She holds out a torch, eyes shining. "Will you hold this while I follow them down?"
